Learn About Our School

In the spring of 2012, Faxon Academy received a charter from Grand Valley State University to open a kindergarten to eighth grade, foreign language immersion school. Our school opened in the fall of that same year with 68 kindergarten through fifth grade students, offering Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and we have been growing ever since.

Global Mindset

Faxon Academy students develop oral and written communication skills in two languages and learn to think creatively in both languages. Although the emphasis is on foreign language development, students also learn an appreciation of cultural values that transcend beyond their own. We provide students with a global mindset and educate them to take their place as tomorrow’s leaders.

“It Takes a Village”

Faxon Academy is built on a culture of mutual respect, the belief all students not only can, but have the right to learn successfully. We believe in the “It Takes a Village” philosophy, and to that end, parents are very much a part of the fabric that binds Faxon Academy. Faculty and staff work closely with the parent body to build a school in which every member of our learning community plays a vital role.
